I Can Do It By Myself

Many families dream of raising confident, capable children. That journey begins early in toddlerhood, with the development of independence.

In this interactive workshop, we will explore how and why to support independence at every stage of your child’s daily life.

Join two experienced teachers, Ornella and Megan, as we look at your child’s world through the lens of independence. We will discuss independence in:

  • daily routines
  • home life
  • playtime
  • drop-off transitions
  • the classroom

“These children reveal to us the most vital need of their development, saying: ‘Help me to do it alone!’” (M. Montessori, Childhood to Adolescence)

This hands-on workshop is designed to support parents and caregivers in understanding and nurturing their child’s development. Whether you are reflecting on your parenting approach, or simply interested about what your child experiences at school, this workshop will have something for you.

This workshop will offer:

  • real-life examples from the classroom and home
  • practical strategies to try at home
  • a safe space for reflection and connection with other parents

We will also address common obstacles to independence and how Montessori principles can guide you even outside of school.

This is the first session in a two-part workshop series: “I Can Do It By Myself” — Saturday, October 18, 9:30am – 11:30am

Let Me Grow

A deeper dive into independence and the inner life of the child. This second session builds on the foundations of “I Can Do It By Myself” and invites parents to think further into the development of true independence, physical as well as mental.

What happens when we step back and trust the child’s process?

What if our help isn’t always supportive?

And how do we support the development of confidence and inner discipline—without overpraising or expecting obedience?

What We’ll Explore

In this session “Let Met Grow”, we’ll reflect on the deeper aspects of independence, including:

  • The influence of the adult
  • The development of motivation
  • The power of repetition
  • The importance of respecting the child’s individual pace and interests matters

“Every useless help is an obstacle to development.”
(M. Montessori, Citizen of the World)

This session will include real-life examples, thoughtful discussion, and time for reflection on your child’s progress since the first workshop.

You’ll leave with:

A deeper understanding of your child’s inner world
Tools to better observe and trust your child’s journey
A renewed sense of confidence in your parenting
